FOR THE LOVE OF READING
“Reading furnishes the mind only with materials of knowledge; it is thinking that makes what we read ours.”
― John Locke
For those that have been to my room, they can tell I LOVE books!! I have over 3500 (which are all available for student check out) and the collection just keeps growing.
Therefore, I had to have a page dedicated to just that - Books! The page also highlights my favorite reading website as well: goodreads.com. It is virtual bookshelf where readers can do a multitude of activities including: log books they've read, update a page number on books they are currently reading, read & write reviews on books, get a quick summary of a book, see when the next book in a series is being released, take trivia quizzes on their favorite books(or write one), and soooo much more. It's nice because, it will travel with the user.
Click on any of the book covers listed below to be taken to a description of the book on the Goodreads website. It will provide a review and quick synopsis. Scroll dow further to access some more Goodreads goodness.
Click here to access their main webpage to create your own account and virtual bookshelf.
PARENTS:
Please note that some books on the shelves in my library contain more mature content and are intended for upper middle school to high school readers. Knowing that parents are busy and do not have the time to read every book their child will be reading, below are a list of links that can help you to make an educated choice for your student. Or, if you just want to know a little bit more about the book your child is reading, then I recommend the following websites to help you with that.
